Affecting your Mood with Colour

Ever notice what mood you are in when surrounded by a particular colour?

What do you fell when you see a bright red traffic light? Or the turquiose water in a remote lagoon somewhere in the tropics?

Best Baby Shower Gifts

What are the best gifts to give a baby?

Gifts are given at a variety of times in a little one's life and even preceding it. Knowing what to give can be a difficult thing.
1st Birthday, newborn, christening and baby showers all pose dilemmas for gift givers.

Baby showers present possibly the most interesting challenge for friends on the "soon to be" parents.

Usually the parents are so excited to have a baby joining them, that they have gone out and bought every contraption possible at their local baby store. Leaving little for the family and friends to buy.

Prams, cots, change tables, walkers, monitors, nappy bags, you can keep going for days!
So what is left to get the little one?

Often friends will contribute to a large item such as a pram. Or they will buy individual items. I like to categorise individual items into 3 areas. Essentials, keepsakes and novelties (or non-essentials).
Essentials are just that, essential. Things like a 6 month supply of nappies. Socks, singlets and other daily clothing items that the child will grow out of every month. A cot and the bedding to go along with it.
You get the picture.

Keepsakes are those items that the child can keep forever. Something that grandma might give, like a piece of jewelry, a memento box, A baby diary or something else along those lines.

Novelties (and non essentials) are gifts that the child or parent or both will get a lot of fun out of. They can be items that are used daily and include dolls, soft toys and games for when the child is a little older. They can also be a special outfit, the child's first shoes or something similar.

Depending on your relationship with the parents can often determine the category of gift you present.
Grandparents, aunts and uncles like to give keepsakes, especially if they may not be around to see the child grow.
Friends without children of their own will often give non-essentials. Something that is a little fun and cheerful.
Friends that have their own children will often give essential items. For they have been there done that and have worked out a few tricks they would like to pass on.
One item that makes a great gift is a giimmo. She fits into both the essential and non essential categories.
Being a cute character that the child can play with adds a sense of fun to the nursery during day. At night, turn her on and she light sup the room and comforts the child.

If you haven't seen giimmo, take a quick look here.
